Sending kids to Camp Gifford - Each year nearly 1,000 campers come out to Camp Gifford. To enjoy nature, to learn new talents and acquire new knowledge, and to meet their Creator and Savior, Jesus Christ. It costs The Salvation Army approximately $240.00 per camper for a week of camp. Our cost to the children (on a sliding scale based on household income) ranges from $60.00 to $190.00 - with nearly 90% of the children in attendance paying the minimum cost. As you can imagine this leaves us with a large balance to cover. Because many people believe in what we are doing we have continued to be able to perform this service to communities throughout the Inland Empire. Because public donations have decreased over the last several years we have now opened our camp to operate year round as a retreat and conference facility. Winterizing, hiring staff and preparing the camp infrastructure to allow for this has been a struggle, but with more groups returning and bringing new groups through word of mouth advertising we are beginning to gain ground financially. However, we are still in need of donations not only to off-set the cost of the summer program, but to expand and improve the summer program, and, it is my hope that we can not only keep the program affordable to children but to make it more affordable by reducing the minimum cost for low-income families. For more information on donating money to bring kids to camp you can E-mail us or write to us at the Camp Address found at the bottom of this page, or, send you check made out to The Salvation Army to the Camp Address. All donations will be sent a receipt which is tax-deductible. Thank you! (back to top) Equipment needs at Camp Gifford - Following is a table showing several of the equipment (program and maintenance) that Camp Gifford is currently (or nearly) requiring. If you would like to donate the equipment or the money to purchase the equipment, E-mail us or write us at the Camp Address located on the bottom of this page and we will be extremely happy to give you any additional information you might require. Thank you!
The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary in Spokane, Washington does much to support Camp Gifford. One of the many ways money is raised to benefit camp is through the selling of pavement bricks. These are high density, construction quality pavement bricks that individuals, businesses, corporations or groups can have engraved and placed in a decorative walkway at Camp Gifford. The bricks cost $50.00 each - such a deal for a long-lasting memorial or company recognition! The money raised from the sale of these bricks goes 100% (after the cost of the brick) toward program expenses at Camp Gifford. This is a great way to recognize your company, group or loved one while helping the kids that come to camp in the process. For more information please write to us at the address below, call us at 509-233-2511, or E-mail us. Thanks! (back to top) We are currently working on two projects slated (with God's provision) to be done over the next couple of years. First we would like to build a Nature Center to educate our summer kids as well as enticing school's out to use our facility during the off-season. Along with the Nature Center we would like to develop a couple of trail systems complete with guide books and educational learning points, kiosks and trail guides. If you have an interest in helping out with this project please let us know by e-mail or phone (below). The second project we would love to see completed in the next two years is a multi-purpose building. To be used as an indoor gym/recreational facility both during summer and winter seasons. Also adding a large meeting area to our offerings to retreat groups outside of summer. This building would be a great addition to camp and would be especially useful during times of bad weather. If you would like more information regarding these projects, or if you would like to make a donation please E-mail or write us at the address below (checks should be made payable to Camp Gifford, remember to designate what your donation is for!). Thank you! (back to top)
